Brown GO-SHIP A13, A12 2020 section cruises (EXPOCODEs 33RO20200221; 33RO20200321) in the North and South Atlantic Ocean from 2020-02-21 to 2020-04-17 (NCEI Accession 0308013)
This dataset contains discrete underway and surface (above 10dbar) CTD bottle measurements collected during the NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown Global Ocean Ship-Based Hydrographic Investigations Program (GO-SHIP) sections A13.5, A12 cruises in the North and South Atlantic Ocean from 2020-02-21 to 2020-04-17. There were 8 surface CTD measurements collected from Niskin Bottles and 330 discrete underway samples collected via a continuously flowing underway line. Discrete underway data has typically not been reported and the purpose of this dataset is to collate unpublished and published surface measurements together from the same research cruise in a usable format. Parameters include water pressure, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, DIC, TA, pH (SWS), pCO2, silicate, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate.

This dataset contains the surface underway and surface discrete measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity (TA), water temperature, salinity, partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2), pH, on total scale nutrients and other parameters obtained onboard the NOAA ship Ronald H. Brown during the GOMECC-4 cruise in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2021-09-13 to 2021-10-21. The ship departed from Key West, FL into the Gulf of Mexico and then around the coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico in a counter-clockwise direction. The cruise ended in St. Petersburg, FL. The effort was in support of the coastal monitoring and research objectives of NOAA’S Ocean Acidification Program. The cruise was designed to obtain a snapshot of key carbon, physical, and biogeochemical parameters as they relate to ocean acidification (OA) in the coastal realm. This was the fourth occupation of the Gulf of Mexico as part of the Ocean Acidification Program’s monitoring efforts, with the first three occurring in 2007, 2012 and 2017. The cruise included a series of 15 transects approximately orthogonal to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and a 16th partial transect along the 27°N line between Florida and the Bahamas. On the transit between each of these transects, discrete samples were collected from the underway seawater line to obtain a comprehensive set of underway measurements. This dataset includes the data from the underway samples as well as the data from the surface sample of ech CTD cast performed along the 15 transects that were conducted during GOMECC-4.

Thompson cruise on GO-SHIP repeat section A22 (EXPOCODE 325020210420) in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2021-04-20 to 2021-05-16. GO-SHIP repeat transoceanic surveys (www.goship.org) provide full water column hydrographic observations with temporal and spatial resolutions adequate to resolve decadal variability in oceanic storage of heat, freshwater, carbon, oxygen, nutrients and transient tracers. Repeat hydrographic physical-biogeochemical measurements nominally along 52° 20’N in the North Atlantic Ocean enables scientists to better tackle important unresolved aspects of the Atlantic Ocean’s response to decadal scale variability and increases in both heat and carbon dioxide as a result of anthropogenic activities. The A22 2021 cruise aboard the UNOLS vessel R/V Thomas G. Thompson was undertaken as part of the US GO-SHIP (Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program), a major contributor to international GO-SHIP. The program’s overall objective is to collect quasi-decadal, highly accurate, surface-to-bottom, coast-to-coast, physical, and chemical oceanic observations. These measurements are essential to monitoring long-term changes in heat, freshwater, carbon, oxygen, and other tracers in the global ocean, the main reservoir in the Earth System.

Millero of Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) as part of the WOCE_AR01(A05), CARINA/33RO19980123 dataset. The CARINA (CARbon dioxide IN the Atlantic Ocean) data synthesis project is an international collaborative effort of the EU IP CARBOOCEAN, and U.S. partners. It has produced a merged internally consistent dataset of open ocean subsurface measurements for biogeochemical investigations, in particular, studies involving the carbon system. The original focus area was the North Atlantic Ocean, but over time the geographic extent expanded and CARINA now includes data from the entire Atlantic, the Arctic Ocean, and the Southern Ocean.

Hydrographic measurements were carried out along the I07N section in the western Indian Ocean in April-June 2018 under the auspices of GO-SHIP. The unique aspect of the 2018 I07N research cruise is that it was the first reoccupation of the I07N section since 1995. The section was not revisited for about 23 years because of the rise of piracy in the region.
