Biometric data of non-target species in the Andreafsky River at Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska
Tabular dataset containing age, sex, and length biometric data for all whitefish species detected and recorded at the Andreafsky weir for 2010-2013 and 2015. Data was compiled from in-season data sheets. Sex was identified visually and length was measured using a measuring board to the nearest 1/2 mm. Total weight in grams was taken for every sampled individual. if the specimen was identified as a female, egg weight in grams was recorded and relative egg weight as a percentage was calculated. NA refers to missing data.

Biometric data of adult salmon in the Andreafsky River at Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska
공공데이터포털
Tabular dataset containing age, sex, and length data for Chum, Chinook, and Sockeye salmon. Sex was determined externally using visual clues such as snout shape and size. Length was measured from fork to mid-eye with a measuring board to the closest 5 mm. Strata refers to the potion of the run the fish was sampled during. Strata data is based on the size of the population rather than date since the salmon run does not start on one specific date year by year. Scales were also taken and placed on a gum card for age assessment. One scale was taken for all sampled Chum salmon and three scales were taken for all sampled Chinook salmon.

POPs data for salmonids and macroinvertebrates from Glacier Bay, Alaska - Measuring persistent organic pollutants in resident salmonids and benthic macroinvertebrates in streams near Glacier National Park, Alaska
공공데이터포털
A 2007 pilot study was initiated by the University of Alaska – Southeast in which baseline levels of contaminants, including persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and total mercury, were determined in whole bodies of juvenile coho salmon collected in streams in and near national park units in the Southeast Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network. Although the concentrations of POPs determined in the juvenile coho were relatively low (< 10 ng/g, wet weight), the preliminary findings of this study indicate that, in the Glacier National Park region, salmon from streams with higher density of spawners had increased levels of certain banned chlorinated pesticides (i.e., alpha-chlordane, o,p’-DDT, p,p’-DDD) compared to salmon collected in other streams with lower salmon spawning density. A follow up study will be initiated in spring/summer 2015 to determine concentrations of POPs in resident salmonids, as well as benthic macroinvertebrates collected from five streams that have fish barriers near or adjacent to Glacier National Park. Comparisons in contaminant concentrations and patterns will be made for fish collected below and above the barrier in each stream to help determine if certain classes of POPs are being transported by the spawners. As part of this study, the NWFSC will analyze whole bodies/muscle of salmonids and benthic macroinvertebrate samples POPs using gas chromatography / mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Percent lipid content of samples (with adequate sample mass) will also be determined. These data will be included in a report to the NIH-sponsored IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence. Determining levels of persistent organic pollutants in salmonids and macroinvertebrates.
Fisheries Inventory, Trout Data, at Rocky Mountain National Park 2021-2022 - Open Format Dataset
공공데이터포털
The Cameron Peak Fire and East Troublesome Fire of 2020 were the two largest wildfires in Colorado history. They burned approximately 9% of the Rocky Mountain National Park, raising a concern for trout populations that currently support recreational fishing and success of on-going and future efforts to conserve native trout populations. In this study, we surveyed habitat characteristics and biological communities at 19 sites in summer of 2021 and a subset of 11 sites in summer of 2022 to characterize wildfire impacts on aquatic resources. We were primarily interested in trout population structure and abundance, which were compared to available pre-fire data. In addition, we collected information on physical habitat, water quality, algae and benthic macroinvertebrates because wildfire effects are complex and this array of data helps assist identifying ecological mechanisms that affect aquatic top predators (i.e., trout). The greenback cutthroat trout is listed as state and federally threatened and is the Colorado State Fish. The Colorado River cutthroat trout is a state species of concern and two distinct lineages occur in the burned areas of ROMO. Quantifying wildfire effects on stream ecosystems and trout populations is needed for ROMO to decide whether (1) ongoing conservation actions should continue including the Poudre Headwaters Project, (2) recreational fishing should be regulated, and (3) waters should require trout stocking or will naturally recover via trout immigration from connected populations. For more information see the report here: https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2304877
