These data were part of a critical review that looks at the occurrence of PFOS in ambient surface waters across the U.S. All data from this paper were obtained from publicly available literature, including peer-review journal articles, theses, and government and industry reports through 2020. These data include measured PFOS concentrations across the U.S., sample site location (i.e., state, waterbody, and GPS coordinates), and dates of sample collection and analysis, and analytical methods used.
