Water temperature, salinity, oxygen, and other parameters taken by CTD from the fishing vessel Aquila (cruise AQ14-01, legs 1 and 2) from 2014-09-23 to 2014-10-19 (NCEI Accession 0279817)
This CTD data set, consisting of 86 casts, was collected in the Chukchi Sea cruise from the F/V Aquila (AQ14-01, September 23 - October 19, 2014). The cruise was funded by U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the NOAA National Marine Mammal Laboratory. It was conducted for CHukchi Acoustic, Oceanographic, and Zooplankton (CHAOZ) and Arctic Whale Ecology Study (ARCWEST) Projects. CTD operations on this cruise were managed by EcoFOCI personnel from NOAA/PMEL. Profile data from CTD instruments were processed at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI using standard techniques. Data from bottle samples include phosphate, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, and chlorophyll. Discrete chlorophyll (bottle sample) data are submitted separately through NOAA/AFSC, Jeffrey M. Napp. Discrete nutrient (bottle sample) data are submitted separately through NOAA/PMEL, Calvin Mordy. Profile data are averaged to a 1-meter grid, with missing data listed as 1e+35. This CTD and Niskin bottle data set, consisting of 17 casts, was collected in the Chukchi and Bering Seas from the F/V Aquila (cruise AQ15-01, September 8 - 28, 2015). The cruise was funded by DOI Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the NOAA National Marine Mammal Laboratory. CTD operations on this cruise were managed by EcoFOCI personnel from NOAA/PMEL. Profile data from CTD instruments were processed at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI using standard techniques. Data from bottle samples include phosphate, silicate, nitrate, nitrite and ammonium. Profile data are averaged to a 1-meter grid, with missing data listed as NaN. Salinity was calculated (PSS-78), from conductivity and temperature (ITS90). Sigma-t was calculated from primary (channel 1) temperature and salinity. Nutrient samples were analyzed according to the methods of Gordon et al, 1993 and Mantoura, Woodward, 1983 (see references in metadata). Samples were collected in 50 ml high-density polyethylene bottles that were rinsed first with 10% HCl prior to each station, and rinsed at least three times with sample before filling. This CTD and Niskin bottles data set, consisting of 71 casts, was collected in the Chukchi Sea from the F/V Aquila (AQ16-01, September 4 - 29, 2016) within the Arctic Long-Term Integrated Mooring Array (ALTIMA) area. The cruise was funded by NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), with supplemental funding from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the Arctic Whale Ecology Study (ARCWEST). These data add to long-term datasets begun under several BOEM initiatives (see “Purpose”). CTD operations on this cruise were managed by EcoFOCI personnel from NOAA/PMEL. Brown (cruise RB15-05, August 8 - September 4, 2015) for CHukchi Acoustic, Oceanographic, and Zooplankton (CHAOZ) 2015 campaign. The cruise was funded by DOI Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the NOAA National Marine Mammal Laboratory. Eight CTD casts are along the DBO-5 line as such: c088 at DBO-5.1, c089 and c062 at DBO-5.3, c061 at DBO-5.4, c090 at DBO-5.5, c059 at DBO-5.6, c091 at DBO-5.7, and c092 at DBO-5.9. This dataset includes chemical, discrete sample, physical and profile data collected from NATHANIEL B. PALMER in the South Pacific Ocean from 1996-08-30 to 1996-09-24 and retrieved during cruise NBP-9604 and Ross_Sea_320619960830. These data include AMMONIUM, DELTA CARBON-13, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, NITRATE, NITRITE, PHOSPHATE, Potential temperature (theta), SALINITY, SILICATE and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and bottle. These data were collected by Louis A. Codispoti of Horn Point Laboratory (UMCES HPL) and Robert F. Anderson of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) as part of the CLIVAR_Ross_Sea_320619960830 dataset. The International CLIVAR Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program carries out a systematic and global re-occupation of select WOCE/JGOFS hydrographic sections to quantify changes in storage and transport of heat, fresh water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and related parameters.

These data include CHLOROPHYLL A, DISSOLVED ORGANIC CARBON, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, NITRATE, NITRITE, PHAEOPHYTIN, PHOSPHATE, Potential temperature (theta), SALINITY, SILICATE and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and bottle. These data were collected by Francisco Rey of Institute of Marine Research - Norway (IMR) as part of the CARINA/58JH19960720 dataset. The CARINA (CARbon dioxide IN the Atlantic Ocean) data synthesis project is an international collaborative effort of the EU IP CARBOOCEAN, and U.S. partners. It has produced a merged internally consistent dataset of open ocean subsurface measurements for biogeochemical investigations, in particular, studies involving the carbon system. The original focus area was the North Atlantic Ocean, but over time the geographic extent expanded and CARINA now includes data from the entire Atlantic, the Arctic Ocean, and the Southern Ocean.

PALMER in the South Pacific Ocean from 2000-02-15 to 2000-03-24 and retrieved during cruise NBP-00_1 and Ross_Sea_320620000215. This CTD dataset (10 casts) was collected in the Chukchi Sea from the USCGC Healy (HLY1501) July 10 to 18, 2015. The NOAA/PMEL portion of this research cruise was under the Innovative Technology for Arctic Exploration (ITAE) program, with the purpose of operating and evaluating a Wave Glider. CTD casts occurred around deployment of other instruments including long-term moorings and the Wave Glider. Profile data from CTD instruments were processed at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI using standard techniques. Profile data are averaged to a 1-meter grid.
