Coastal Economic Trends for Coastal Geographies
These market data provide a comprehensive set of measures of changes in economic activity throughout the coastal regions of the United States. In regard to the sources of data, establishments, employment, and wages are taken from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW). The data series also is known as the ES-202 data. These data are based on the quarterly reports of nearly all employers in the United States. These reports are filed with each state's employment or labor department, and each state then transmits the data to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), where the national databases are maintained. The data for the Coastal Economies have been taken from the national databases at BLS (except in the case of Massachusetts). Gross State Product (GSP) data are taken from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), which develops the estimates of GSP from a number of sources. In regard to "employment", data are reported by employers, not employees, and does not contain any information about age. There is no difference between "employed" and "employment". The source is known as the payroll survey, a survey filed by employers every 3 months showing the number of people employed at each establishment in each of the preceding 3 months. ENOW 2015: Ocean Economy State Statistics

This dataset summarizes 2015 Ocean Economy employment statistics for the U.S. coastal states by breaking down each ocean economic indicator per each ocean sector. The dataset also provides percent employment and percent GDP by sector. This percentage is a percent of the ocean sector compared to the total Ocean Economy for each state. This information was harvested from the Economics: National Ocean Watch (ENOW) time-series data on the ocean and Great Lakes economy, derived from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. ENOW data measures four economic indicators: Establishments, Employment, Wages, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for six economic sectors that are dependent on the oceans and Great Lakes, including: Marine Construction, Living Resources, Offshore Mineral Extraction, Ship and Boat Building, Tourism and Recreation, and Marine Transportation.

This dataset summarizes 2015 employment and gross domestic product (GDP) Ocean Economy statistics including (a) the Ocean Economy employment and GDP for each state as a percentage of the total state Coastal Economy and (b) the total Ocean Economy for all coastal states as a percentage of the national Coastal Economy. This information was harvested from the Economics: National Ocean Watch (ENOW) time-series data on the ocean and Great Lakes economy, derived from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The Ocean Economy consists of six economic sectors dependent on the oceans and Great Lakes, including: Marine Construction, Living Resources, Offshore Mineral Extraction, Ship and Boat Building, Tourism and Recreation, and Marine Transportation.
Bathymetric Contours

These data show bathymetric contours (isobaths) that help characterize the general physiographic patterns of the seafloor. Contour intervals are every 10 m from zero to -100 m, every 25 m from -100 m to -500 m, and every 100 m from -500 m to full depth. The DEM utilized was the Global Multi-Resolution Topography Synthesis which is a multi-resolution gridded global Digital Elevation Model that includes cleaned processed ship-based multibeam sonar data at their full spatial resolution (approximately 100m in the deep sea).
State Census Statistics

These data show the total population, total housing units, and median household income from the 2010 to 2016 U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey. These values have been merged with the 2010 Decennial Census boundaries at the state level. Also included are records for the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

2017-2023 NOAA East Coast Historical InSAR Data

Dewberry contracted TRE Altamira Inc (TREA) for a historical InSAR analysis of ground displacement over the East Coast of the United States of America (U.S.A.), for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The area of interest (AOI) includes the major coastal cities and coastal plains and covers over 500,000 km2 (193,000 mi2). TREAs proprietary SqueeSAR algorithm was used to process Sentinel-1 (SNT) satellite imagery acquired between January 2017 and July 2023 and the results were calibrated using the NOAA's CORS GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) network for the generation of vertical InSAR (SAR Interferometry) measurements.

These data represent the boundaries of the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) eleven regional associations (RAs). There are thousands of ocean observing tools in use every day-satellites in orbit, gliders, buoys, high-frequency radar, sharks with satellite tags, sensors on the ocean floor, and more operated by different organizations and researchers. IOOS, a national-regional partnership, gathers and integrates many of those data streams and makes those observations compatible and accessible by science, industry, government, and citizens. RAs design regional coastal observing systems to meet the unique needs of the regional environment and stakeholders. The eleven IOOS RAs maintain and operate regional coastal observing systems and develop information products for their users. The RAs provide increased observations, distinctive knowledge, and critical technological abilities, and apply these towards the development of products to meet regional and local needs

Records were acquired from multiple sources, however source data was not available from all coastal states.
