The instruments used to collect these data include Alkalinity titrator, CTD, Coulometer for DIC measurement, bottle and spectrophotometer. These data were collected by Christopher L. Sabine and Richard A. Feely of NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL), Andrew G. Dickson of Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), and Dennis A. Hansell and Frank J. Millero of Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) as part of the CLIVAR_S04P_2011 dataset. The International CLIVAR Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program carries out a systematic and global re-occupation of select WOCE/JGOFS hydrographic sections to quantify changes in storage and transport of heat, fresh water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and related parameters.

Palmer Repeat Hydrography and SOCCOM Cruise NBP18_02 in the Pacific Sector of Southern Ocean: GO-SHIP Section S04P (EXPOCODE 320620180309), from 2018-03-09 - 2018-05-14. The Pacific Ocean S04P repeat hydrographic line was reoccupied for the US Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program. The survey of S04P 2018 consisted of CTDO, rosette, LADCP, UVP, water samples and underway measurements. The ship departed from the port of Hobart on the island of Tasmania, Australia and completed the cruise in the port of Punta Arenas, Chile.

Palmer cruise in the South Pacific Ocean on GO-SHIP/CLIVAR/SOCCOM Repeat Hydrography Sections P06W (EXPOCODE 320620170703) and P06E (EXPOCODE 320620170820) from 2017-07-03 to 2017-09-30. The Pacific Ocean P06 repeat hydrographic line was reoccupied for the US Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program. Reoccupation of the P06E transect occurred on the RVIB Nathaniel B Palmer from August 20, 2017 to September 30, 2017. The survey of P06 2017 consisted of CTDO, rosette, LADCP, chipod, water samples and underway measurements. The ship departed from the port of Papeete on the island of Tahiti, French Polynesia and completed the cruise in the port of Valparaiso, Chile.

This dataset includes discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2), CTD temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC-11, CFC-12), helium, delta C13 and delta C14. These data were collected by Taro Takahashi of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) and Frank J. Millero of Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) as part of the WOCE_S04I dataset. The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was a major component of the World Climate Research Program with the overall goal of better understanding the ocean's role in climate and climatic changes resulting from both natural and anthropogenic causes. The CO2 survey took advantage of the sampling opportunities provided by the WOCE Hydrographic Program (WHP) cruises during this period between 1990 and 1998. The final collection covers approximately 23,000 stations from 94 WOCE cruises.
