Zooplankton data were collected using net casts from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER in the Gulf of Alaska from 20 October 1975 to 10 November 1975. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) with support from the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) project.

Zooplankton data were collected using zooplankton net casts and other instruments in the Delaware Bay and North Atlantic Ocean from November 3, 1976 to November 18, 1977. Data were submitted by Virginia Institute of Marine Science - Gloucester Point as part of the Ocean Continental Shelf (OCS - Mid Atlantic) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Zooplankton (F004) format. The F124 format is used for data from sampling and analysis of marine zooplankton. Information on zooplankton abundance, distribution, and productivity derived from these data support studies of marine populations and ecosystems. Data reported may include: cruise information, position, date, and time of sampling; bottom depth, sampling depths, temperature, and salinity; gear type, volume of water filtered, total dry and wet weight, and other data for total haul; and data for subsamples by species. Data on zooplankton catch by species may include subsample size, zooplankton concentration, life history code, and numbers of adults, juveniles, eggs, and larvae. Estimated density of holoplankton and meroplankton and data on ichthyoplankton may also be reported. A text record is available for comments. Note: there are two options for reporting subsample counts of individuals at different life history stages. If life history codes are used, only number of adults should be reported on that record. Additional separate records should then be used to report number of juveniles and so on. Alternatively, life history codes may not be used and number of adults, juveniles, and so entered in the proper fields of a single record.

Zooplankton data were collected using zooplankton net casts in Coastal Waters of Washington / Oregon. Data were collected from 01 January 1969 to 31 December 1972 by Oregon State University. Report from OSU Sea Grant College Program (OSU, School of Oceanography), titled "Zooplankton Along the Continental Shelf off Newport, Oregon 1969-72: distribution, abundance, seasonal cycle and year-to-year variations". Lead author is Dr. William Peterson and is dated June 1976.

Zooplankton data were collected using net casts from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER and NOAA Ship SURVEYOR in the lower Cook inlet from 05 May 1976 to 30 August 1976. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) with support from the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) project.

Phytoplankton data were collected using net casts from the USCGC POLAR SEA in the Arctic Ocean. Data were collected from 26 July 1994 to 26 August 1994. Data were submitted by Oregon State University (OSU) with support from the Arctic Ocean Section (Canada/U.S. joint expedition) project.

Zooplankton data were taken on five cruises from 1984 through 1992 at Johnston Island, Hancock Seamounts, and Palmyra Island, the latter of which was concentrated in the coastal regime and within the lagoon. Data were collected using zooplankton net casts by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Data were submitted by University of Alaska Institute of Marine Science as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) project. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard F024 - Zooplankton data format. The F024 Zooplankton data format is designed to support studies for determining seasonal density distributions of zooplankton. Information on diversity, abundance and productivity can be derived from the data reported in this format. The format consists of eight data records for reporting cruise information, position, date and time, sample depths as well as haul data such as gear type, haul distribution and total wet and dry weight. The zooplankton catch is reported by species and includes fields for wet and dry weight and the number of adults, juveniles, eggs and larvae. A text record also is available for additional comments. A plankton data record gives estimated density information. An ichthyoplankton data record is also present.
