A total of 1,021 households were interviewed, which provided data for the target sample size of 1,007 households and ensured the sample is representative of the seven districts covered in the interim assessment. The unique identifiers in this individual-level file are pbs_id + idcode.

The Mozambique Population-Based Survey (PBS) provides a comprehensive assessment of the current status of agriculture and food security in two provinces, Zambizia and Nampula. These areas were selected based on national estimates that indicate that the incidence of poverty, malnutrition, and stunting among children less than five years of age is disproportionately high. These provinces are adjacent to three of the country's main trade corridors: Nacala (linking Mozambique to Malawi and Zambia), Beira (linking Mozambique to Zimbabwe), and the N1 (key North-South road connecting Nacala and Beira corridors). This dataset is the second of two datasets needed to calculate the Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index-related measures.

Feed the Future initiative in Malawi is committed to improving food security and nutrition in farming households while reducing rural poverty through an agriculture-led, integrated economic growth, nutrition, and natural resource management strategy. The goal of the impact evaluation is to determine whether integrating nutrition interventions alongside agricultural value chain interventions will contribute to a greater reduction in malnutrition among children under 3 years of age, compared to nutrition improvements anticipated from stand-alone value chain activities. The main objectives are to enable USAID missions to meet the performance monitoring requirements of Feed the Future and maximize the use and benefits of data collected; provide high-quality empirical evidence to inform program design and investment decisions that will promote sustainable food security; ensure timely availability of highquality data for use in monitoring performance and evaluating impacts of the Feed the Future initiative; and facilitate accountability and learning about which Feed the Future interventions work best, under what conditions, and at what cost.

It is part of the 2015 Feed the Future Malawi Interim Survey in the Zone of Influence. The survey was designed to monitor program performance by periodic assessments of a number of standardized indicators. A total of 1,021 households were interviewed, which provided data for the target sample size of 1,007 households and ensured the sample is representative of the seven districts covered in the interim assessment. It includes all of the 24-hour time allocation data from Module G6, the time use questionnaire, and thus each respondent in Module G has multiple records—one for each of the 18 time use activities (17,064 records ÷ 18 activities = 948 WEAI respondents). The unique identifiers are pbs_id + idcode + activity.
