This feature class resides within the BIOLOGY Feature Data Set of the Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac 2019 ESI Geodatabase. It contains vector polygons representing BENTHIC data for the Straits of Mackinac area of interest. The study area includes the Straits of Mackinac, nearby portions of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and adjacent lands and waters in northern Michigan. This data set contains sensitive biological resource data for submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). Vector polygons in this data set represent SAV. Species-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information are stored in associated data tables (described in Entity Attribute Overview below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer. The HYDROL (hydrography lines) layer includes features that are not captured in the HYDROP data layer, such as breakwaters, fenders, groins, jetties, and piers.
