Annual California Children’s Services Whole Child Model Summary Data

These datasets contain summary data about the Annual California Children’s Services (CCS) Whole Child Model (WCM) program. These summary files are intended to accompany the CCS Power BI Dashboard which is posted on the DHCS internet. The CCS and WCM Programs provide diagnostic and treatment services, case management, and physical and occupational therapy services to children under age 21 with CCS-eligible medical conditions. Examples of CCS-eligible conditions include, but are not limited to, chronic medical conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, heart disease, cancer, traumatic injuries, and infectious diseases producing major sequelae.

The Behavioral Health Program Performance Data provides underlying data for the Mental Health Performance Dashboard covering state fiscal years 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) oversees Mental Health Services derived from Medi-Cal claims, encounter, and eligibility systems in accordance with California Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) § 14707.5 (added as part of Assembly Bill 470 on 10/7/17), and also Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS) for Medi-Cal members through County Mental Health Plans (MHPs). These services support individuals with serious mental health conditions, helping them manage symptoms and progress toward recovery. DHCS also contracts with Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs) for primary, preventive, specialty, and non-specialty mental health services (NSMHS).
