This service denotes the locations of colonias communities as defined in Section 916 of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act of 1990. In order to better serve colonia residents, the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990 (as amended) included Section 916 which called for the border states of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas to set aside a percentage of their annual State CDBG allocations for use in the colonias. The use of these set aside funds is to help meet the needs of the colonias residents in relationship to the need for potable water, adequate sewer systems, or decent, safe and sanitary housing. Therefore, the set-aside funds may be utilized for any CDBG eligible activity that is, or is in conjunction with, a potable water, sewer or housing activity.

This service denotes the service areas for HUD's Homeownership Centers (HOCs) which help insure single family Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgages, and oversee the selling of HUD homes. Processing for much of the Single Family FHA mortgages is centralized into one of four Homeownership Centers (HOC) located in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Denver, and Santa Ana; each supporting specific geographic region. Although most questions are handled by the FHA Resource Center (not the HOC) for immediate acknowledgement and tracking, certain case specific issues will subsequently be referred to the appropriate center.

This dataset denotes the general position of Public Housing Developments by providing the location of the building with the largest number of units in a Development’s community. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing these developments. Public Housing Developments are depicted as a distinct address chosen to represent the general location of an entire Public Housing Development, which may be comprised of several buildings scattered across a community. The building with the largest number of units is selected to represent the location of the development.

A. SUMMARY This dataset maps 2020 census tracts to Analysis Neighborhoods. The Department of Public Health and the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, with support from the Planning Department originally created the 41 Analysis Neighborhoods by grouping 2010 Census tracts, using common real estate and residents’ definitions for the purpose of providing consistency in the analysis and reporting of socio-economic, demographic, and environmental data, and data on City-funded programs and services. They are not codified in Planning Code nor Administrative Code. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED This dataset is produced by mapping the 2020 Census tracts to Analysis neighborhoods. C. UPDATE PROCESS This dataset is static. Changes to the census tract boundaries are tracked in multiple datasets. See here for the 2010 census tracts assigned to neighborhoods D. This service denotes estimated PHA service area boundaries in an effort to provide critical data to those responsible (HUD staff, researchers, and external partners) for the evaluation and monitoring of HUD’s rental assistance programs. This is an experimental dataset that is designed to aid researchers in studying the HUD-funded Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. The methodology and the service areas themselves have not been validated by HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) or the Public Housing Agencies. PD&R welcomes engagement from internal and external stakeholders on the continued refinement and development of this dataset.
