NSDUH 2017 Editing and Imputation Report
This report focuses on the editing and statistical imputation procedures that were applied to respondent data for the 2017 NSDUH. Logical editing uses data from elsewhere within the same respondent's record to reduce the occurrence of missing or ambiguous data or to resolve inconsistencies between related variables. Imputation is defined as the replacement of missing values with valid, nonmissing values. Statistical imputation usually involves some randomness to preserve the natural variability in the data.

NSDUH 2022 Sample Experience Report
공공데이터포털
This report is a follow-up to the 2022 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH)Sample Design Report. It further documents the 2022 NSDUH sample experiences by comparing expected outcomes with what actually occurred, and documenting unexpected issues that came up during the year. A summary of the sample design is included for context.Chapters:Introduces the report and summarizes the impact of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on sample design and data collection.Revisits the 2022 sample design.Documents the sample experiences at the segment levelDocuments the sample experiences at the dwelling-unit levelDocuments the sample experiences at the person levelLooks at sampling error, through a computation of design effects and a comparison of observed and expected precision

Substate estimates for these years are no longer available due to methodological concerns with combining 2020 data with data from 2018 and 2019. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause.Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, most respondents answered the survey via the web in Quarter 4 of 2020, even though all responses in Quarter 1 were from in-person interviews. It is known that people may respond to the survey differently while taking it online, thus introducing what is called a mode effect. When the state estimates were released, it was assumed that the mode effect was similar for different groups of people. However, later analyses have shown that this assumption should not be made. Because of these analyses, along with concerns about the rapid societal changes in 2020, it was determined that averages across the three years could be misleading. For more detail on this decision, see the 2018-2020substate data page.
NSDUH 2021 Sample Design Report
공공데이터포털
This report describes the sample design for the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). It describes the target population and the five stages of sample selection, including the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. It also includes information on sample weighting and variance estimation procedures for the 2021 NSDUH.Chapter 1 introduces the report, describes the target population, provides a general overview of the 2021 NSDUH sample design, and summarizes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the 2021 NSDUH. Chapter 2 summarizes the 2014 through 2022 coordinated design, while Chapter 3 discusses the first three stages of selection in greater detail. Chapter 4 describes the fourth and fifth stages of selection. Finally, Chapter 5 describes sample weighting and variance estimation procedures for 2021.The document is available as a PDF.
