A manually-actuated device for the deliver of a volume of liquid which includes an outlet through which liquid is in use delivered and a cover member which is movably disposed relative to the housing between a first position in which the cover member at least partly covers the outlet and a second position in which the cover member acts as a lever which in use is acted upon by a user to actuate the delivery device.

An apparatus is provided for use in a device having a battery and one or more power consuming circuit boards that are powered by the battery. The battery connector includes one or more electrical conduits and a housing. Each electrical conduit includes a battery contact, a first circuit board contact, and as second circuit board contacts. The battery contact is for contacting the battery and forming an electrical connection therebetween. The first and second circuit board contacts are for contacting the one or more circuit boards and forming electrical connections therebetween. The housing retains the electrical conduits.

A system is described for deriving benefits from the reception and processing of auxiliary data by a hand-held device 12, such as a smart card, personal digital assistant ("PDA"), or mobile phone. Aiming light 24 and/or audio transducer 34 alert the user of hand-held device 12 that auxiliary data is being received. The auxiliary data is then utilized by hand-held device 12. The user receives benefits such as promotional opportunities resulting from the reception of the auxiliary data. Such opportunities are expressed on visual display 20, which may include a series of lights 20a, 20b, 20c, and/or 20d, or an LCD 44. The lights and LCD provide promotional opportunities which may be redeemable and conventional stores or via the Internet. Hand-held devices 12 are outfitted with a PCMCIA interface 70 or wireless Internet access to obtain such promotional activities on the Internet. Hand-held device 12 may have housing 14 in various shapes to promote various promotional opportunities. On front surface 16 of the hand-held device may have indication of a sponsor 17.

The invention is directed to an apparatus for controlling at least one electronic device, comprising a haptic input means, an acoustic input means, and a switching means for switching between the acoustic input means and the haptic input means, such that an input is received by the apparatus via only one input means at a time. The invention is also directed to a method for inputting data using an apparatus comprising a haptic input means, an acoustic input means and a switching means for switching between the input means, comprising the steps of receiving input via one of the input means, switching from the one input means to the other input means upon receipt of a switching command by the switching means, and receiving input via the other input means wherein input is received by the apparatus via only one input means at a time.

The invention concerns a device (1) for manipulating tools comprising two parts, said device being of the type consisting of a frame and at least one tray forming a table, designed to receive the mold. The invention is characterized in that it comprises two horizontally arranged trays (6, 9-7, 8) one of which is arranged sliding on the frame to be mobile in translation relative to the other tray, from a close position to a remote position and inversely, so as to enable the tool to be manually opened and closed.

Device and method for mounting ends of a handle into slits of a package. The device includes guide rails which guide and orient the ends of the handle from a first position to a second position, wherein, in the second position, the ends of the handle are oriented in a direction that is perpendicular to the slits of the package. The method includes moving the handle towards the guide rails, guiding the handle with the guide rails until the handle assumes the second position, and inserting the ends of the handle into the slits of the package. A field instrument and system for obtaining pressure, flow and temperature data from a facility. The field instrument includes an enclosure having an opening therein. An integrated analog sensor is sealingly contained within the opening. The field instrument further contains an external analog sensor. An analog to digital converter converts the analog signals to digital readings. An external digital sensor is also provided, with the digital output being communicated through a second opening within the enclosure. A control member that receives, stores and processes the digital readings is positioned within the enclosure. A communication module is included to transmit the digital readings to a remote computer. The communication module allows for two way communication between the field instrument and remote computer. The remote computer may be a server that allows for access by many users. The communication module also allows for locally accessing the digital readings via a serial port to a local terminal.

A package is provided for supplying contact lenses directly to a wearer by mail or internet order. An outer mailing envelope ( 402 ) contains packages of bulk quantity of lenses ( 210 ) and a trial quantity of lenses ( 310 ) of the same prescription and manufacturing lot. These are supplied simultaneously, the bulk lenses being packaged with a tamper-evident seal ( 212 ) while the trial lenses are accessible for use without breaking said seal. In the example described, bulk and trial packs of lenses for two eyes are contained within the same mailing envelope. Each bulk pack contains 92 lenses for three months' wear, plus a strip of four lenses in the trial pack. The strip of trial lenses is taken from one of six sheets of sixteen lenses included in the bulk pack. Prescription and lot details can be read directly from the blister packs through window in the bulk package, without breaking the seal ( 212 ).

The device has an operating unit (11) with a rotary toggle (12) that is rotatable in an associated bearing (13), a signal arrangement for producing signals depending on a toggle position and/or change in position and controller for processing the signals to influence the electric equipment. The toggle can also be moved linearly in at least one direction and the signal arrangement can detect the linear movement (L).
