The instrument has a sleeve (2) comprising a metal body or core (3) and a sheath (4) surmounted around the metal body or core. The sheath distorts under the effect of a type of sterilization or disinfection such as sterilization by dry heat, by steam or sterilization with ethylene oxide, currently utilized by a practitioner. The sheath is made of material whose melting point is lower than 90[deg]Celsius.

The inventive whitening agent contains riboflavin and or the derivatives thereof, which enable the oxidant in the whitening agent to decompose more rapidly, by means of radiation energy, thus effectively accelerating the whitening action.
