The invention is directed to an apparatus for controlling at least one electronic device, comprising a haptic input means, an acoustic input means, and a switching means for switching between the acoustic input means and the haptic input means, such that an input is received by the apparatus via only one input means at a time. The invention is also directed to a method for inputting data using an apparatus comprising a haptic input means, an acoustic input means and a switching means for switching between the input means, comprising the steps of receiving input via one of the input means, switching from the one input means to the other input means upon receipt of a switching command by the switching means, and receiving input via the other input means wherein input is received by the apparatus via only one input means at a time.

The invention relates to a valuable document or security document (1) that comprises one or more LED elements (2) as a security feature. The LED element (2) is supplied with power by an energy source (3) via lines (4) and (5). Energy source (3) is preferably a passive energy source, that is a solar cell or an antenna. By providing liquid sensors and vapor sensors on the same device, the present invention allows for a compact, efficient, and economically feasible manner to monitor the condition of fluid as well as detecting abnormal operating conditions prior to further component damage and eventual equipment failure.

The present invention relates to the translation of a portion of text to be communicated in a text-based communication in a communications network. A communications device for composing the text-based communication queries a translation service with a portion of text in a first language to obtain a replacement for the portion in a second language. A user may trigger a replacement query by composing the portion using at least one trigger symbol monitored by the communications device. Replacement may be confirmed with the user and at least one alternative replacement sought in response to the confirmation. The communications network may comprise a wireless network and the communications device a wireless mobile communications device.
