ProVu is a viewer which allows users to electronically analyze standard company safety profile reports. Data are available in a PDF as well as XML. FMCSA provides a tool, called ProVu, in order to read the XML data.

Users can search FMCSA databases, register for a USDOT number, pay fines online, order company safety profiles, challenge FMCSA data using the DataQs system, access the Hazardous Material Route registry, obtain National Crash and Out of Service rates for Hazmat Permit Registration, get printable registration forms and find information about other FMCSA Information Systems.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Safety Management System (SMS) is an automated data system used by FMCSA to monitor motor carrier on-road safety performance. FMCSA analyzes safety performance by grouping carrier data in the SMS into seven Behavioral Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs) which are, in turn, used to identify potential safety problems with individual carriers and determine when an enforcement intervention might be appropriate.

The SaferBus API is a RESTful service API provided by FMCSA for the purpose of making available, the safety performance data of U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) registered bus companies. The primary goal is to encourage the development of products, tools or services that can help consumers more easily check the safety record of bus companies to avoid those that have been placed out of service or those that do not have the proper operating authority.
