Prescription Monitoring Program: Schedule V Drug Prescriptions Dispensed
This dataset includes the amount of Schedule V prescription drugs, dispensed over a 3-month span. On the controlled substance Schedule II-V; Schedule V prescription drugs have a lower potential for abuse relative to substances in Schedule IV. Schedule V prescription drugs are generally used for antidiarrheal, antitussive, and analgesic purposes. It only includes dispensations to CT residents reported to the CT Prescription Monitoring & Reporting System (CPMRS).

This dataset shows the average days supply and daily morphine milligram equivalent (MME) of opioid prescription dispensed. The morphine milligram equivalent is an opioid dosage equivalent to morphine. This measurement is used to determine the abuse and overdose potential, and to set thresholds for prescribing and dispensing opioid pain relievers. The lowest effective dosage is set at less than 50 MME and the highest is greater than 90 MME.
