VEGA1 PUMA DUST MASS SPECTROMETER DATA V1.0

These files were split into separate files for each mode, preserving the original ordering of the spectra within the table. Spectra in each mode table are arranged chronologically, using TIME of the spectrum on the BLISI clock, in sec.

The data from MPI for this dataset were received as text files each containing spectra of a single instrument mode (there were several files for most modes). These spectra were reformatted into binary tables, and all spectra from each mode were combined into a single file. The original order of the spectra has been preserved. Spacecraft time, relative to switch-on of the instrument is specified as 1 clock tick = 0.11852 seconds. The exact equation is:

This data set includes the original Vega 1 MISCHA data delivery to PDS. The data were provided by Magda Delva of the MISCHA instrument team. The data are provided in ASCII format as well as the original IBM/PC binary format in which they were delivered to PDS. This data set was created for purposes of 'safing' these data. Significant concerns exist with regards to data quality. Specifically one of the instrument sensors saturated near closest approach to the comet Halley.

This data set contains magnetic field vectors acquired by the Galileo magnetometer at the Io flyby on Dec 7 (341), 1995 and for the remainder of the mission after the Phase 2 flight Software load in May 1996. Packetized data replaced the Experimenter Data Records (EDRs) that were the raw data product in Phase 1. These are raw data provided in their original packet form. Processing done internal to the instrument remains in the data set.

The data set contains measurements from both the infrared interferometer spectrometer and the broadband reflected solar radiometer and ancillary data. The data set is ordered by time as measured by the Flight Data System Count (FDSC). This represents the data frame number, modulo 60. Also included is pointing and other information on the geometry associated with a given data record.

The dataset contains measurements from the infrared interferometer spectrometer and ancillary data. Each record of the dataset consists of a header and a spectral observation of Mars geometry of the observation. The dataset is ordered by time as measured by the Data Acquisition System (DAS) time (1 DAS count is approximately 1.2 sec.). Two IRIS frames are completed every 35 DAS counts calibration observation (alternately of interstellar space and an internal calibration blackbody), and is therefore absent from the calibrated dataset.
