This dataset contains the results from quadrat surveys in the Marmion Lagoon, Perth, Western Australia. Approximately monthly surveys were conducted between October 1993 and October 1994 to determine the biomass and distribution of filter feeders in relation to seagrass distributions.

This dataset contains temperature, salinity and nutrient data collected off Marmion, Perth, Western Australia between June 1979 and June 1982. 33 surveys were carried out at approximately monthly intervals on transects and/or grid surveys in this region. Nutrients measured comprise nitrate, reactive silicate, inorganic phosphate, nitrite, and dissolved organic phosphate (DOP). Observations on weather conditions and water quality accompany the printed version of the data. The surveys were undertaken to obtain baseline information for the Division of Fisheries & Oceanography Coastal Ecology research program established at Marmion in the late 1970s. Full listings of the surveys and results are presented in the documentation. The locations of the sampling stations are indicated in the attached map (see "Links" section).

This dataset contains seagrass distribution and density data from Marmion Lagoon, Perth, Western Australia. Every 6 months from 1979 until January 1998, two transects a north south and an east west (370 m and 330 m long) in 4 m of water were conducted. Any species or density changes along the transects were recorded.

This data set contains hydrology data from a sampling programme over Marmion Reef off Marmion in Western Australia conducted by Hugh Kirkman (CSIRO) between May 1979 and June 1985. There are 1240 samples taken at 22 station locations. Station depths vary from 2m to 20m. Parameters measured include Sea Surface temperature, salinity and nitrate. Samples were also taken at station depth for the first year. Temperatures by thermometer in bucket; salinities ST meter or salinometer.

A study of the response of phytoplankton to rainfall in Sydney Harbour, on the 29th of October 2004, is reported here. Sydney Harbour is an important port and recreational region for the city of Sydney. Phytoplankton can be used as one of the indexes of water quality. The concentration of phytoplankton is influenced by the nutrients in the water and the amount of nutrients is thought to alter according to the urban and industrial wastes that drain from the city of Sydney. The amount of phytoplankton before and after rainfall at Pyrmont in Sydney Harbour was observed. The concentration of chlorophyll after a period of rainfall from the 15th October to the 4th of November 2004, as measured from the surface to 7m deep, was almost 5 times as much as that as before the rain event. The maximum chlorophyll concentration observed by fluorometer was 27 [ug/litre].
