Quality Controlled Ocean Temperature Archive (QuOTA), 1778-2005
공공데이터포털
The QuOTA project involved NOAA-IPRC and CMAR jointly undertaking to build a very high quality ocean thermal data archive by applying methods and expertise developed through the NOAA-IPRC/CMAR IOTA (Indian Ocean Thermal Archive) collaboration which was established in 1998. The Quota Project resulted in building a high quality upper ocean temperature dataset for the Indian Ocean and the South-western Pacific (east of the dateline). QuOTA contains ocean temperature data collected since 1778 and includes XBT, CT, CU, CTD, XCDT, MBT, BT, BA, DT, SST, TE, UO, bottle, drifting and moored bouy data. Quality control of the data is done by automated processes, followed by 'hand-QC' of data that fails the automated test. This results in a data set containing very little 'bad' data and any that remains is usually subtly faulty, having little impact on most analyses.

Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph (XBT) (C116) format. The C116/C118 format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Prior to July 1994, XBT data were routinely processed to one of these standard types. XBT data are now processed and loaded directly in to the NODC Ocean Profile Data Base (OPDB). Historic data from these two data types were loaded into the OPDB.

This dataset contains water temperature profiles from XBT casts collected aboard the HANSA FREYBURG, HIGHLAND CHIEF, ER MONTPELLIER, SEATRADE ORANGE, AURORA AUSTRALIS, L'Astrolabe, SEATRADE RED, and Szechuen in the Indian Ocean, South Pacific Ocean, Tasman Sea, Southern Ocean, and Coral Sea from 28 July 2019 to 14 July 2021. These data were collected as part of the Ship of Opportunity Program High Density XBT Transects during cruises HF32, HC30, MP30, SO30, AA190, LA200, SR30, LA210, SZ30, and SZ06. These data were submitted by Rebecca Cowley of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
