Nutrients and other data were collected using bottle, MBT, XBT, and CTD casts in the North Atlantic and North Pacific Ocean from 03 January 1972 to 12 June 1996. Data were submitted by Marine Environmental Data Service. Nutrients data includes dissolved oxygen, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate.

Physical, nutrients, and other data were collected from CTD and bottle casts from the North Pacific Ocean from 19 February 1991 to 31 December 2000. Nutrients, salinity, temperature, and other data were collected from multiple ships from January 1, 1999 to December 31, 1999. Data were submitted by Messina Institute of Experimental Thalassography. Data were collected using bottle, CTD, and XBT casts in the Southern Ocean. These data files are in NODC SD2 format. The SD2 file format is used for physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5%), were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information, position, date and time are reported for each station. Each station contains the measurements taken at observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.

Physical, nutrients, and other data were collected from CTD, MBT, XBT, and bottle casts from the Indian Ocean. Data were collected from 01 January 1976 to 31 December 1996. XBT parameters include temperature profiles. Bottle and CTD parameters include temperature, salinity, and concentrations of oxygen, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and alkalinity.

Nutrients, temperature profile, zooplankton biomass, and other data were collected from the CHOFU MARU, SHUMPU MARU, SEIFU MARU, and KEIFU MARU from January 1, 1999 to December 31, 1999. Data were submitted by the Japan Meteorological Agency using bottle, CTD, XBT, and buoy casts in the North Pacific Ocean. Nutrients parameters include nitrate, oxygen, phosphate, and silicate.

Bottle, CTD, and XBT data were collected in the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans from the John P. Tully and other vessels from 03 August 1959 to 01 July 2001. Data include temperature and salinity profiles. Data also include concentration profiles of chlorophyll a, oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and silicate. Data were submitted by the Marine Environmental Data Service (MEDS) of Canada and are in the MEDS ASCII format.

Nutrients and temperature profile data were collected using XBT and CTD casts from R/V MIRAI in the North/South Pacific Ocean and other Sea areas from 06 January 2000 to 08 February 2001. Data were submitted by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).

Physical, nutrients, and chemical data were collected using bottle, CTD, XBT, XSV, AXBT, thermometer, and tide gauge casts from AIRCRAFT in the North and South Pacific Ocean. Data were collected and submitted by the Naval Oceanographic Office. Data were collected from 26 June 1925 to 28 April 1996.

Chemical, transmissivity, fluorescence, nutrients, and temperature data were collected from multiple ships from June 29, 1966 to April 22, 2000. Data were submitted by Marine Environmental Data Service. Data were collected using bottle, BT, and CTD casts in the Arctic Ocean, North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean.

Nutrients and temperature profile data were collected using bottle, XBT, and CTD casts in the North Pacific Ocean, Sea of Japan, and other Sea areas from 01 January 1965 to 31 December 2002. Data were submitted by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
