Aquatic Macroinvertebrate Data Collected from Kansas City Metro Area Streams, 2011-2013
The data represent counts and presence of stream-dwelling aquatic macroinvertebrate communities in nine watersheds within the non-connected stormwater region in Kansas City, Missouri. Samples were collected from 3 stream habitats (coarse substrate in cobble riffles, depositional non-flow habitat in pools, and rootmats along shoreline areas). Macroinvertebrate organisms were enumerated and identified to the lowest practical taxonomic unit.

Multimetric Index macroinvertebrate values from the Fountain Creek Basin, Colorado, 2005–2016
공공데이터포털
These data have been collected as part of a cooperative project in between the U.S. Geological Survey Colorado Water Science Center, Colorado Springs Utility, and Colorado Springs Engineering. This project began in 2005 and has collected macroinvertebrate samples from Fountain Creek and its tributaries to monitor the biological condition of this watershed. Provided in this data release are Multimetric Index (MMI) values of aquatic macroinvertebrate assemblages using four different sampling methods. There are two subsets of these data included: (1) MMI values of macroinvertebrate data collected from 2010 to 2012 at 15 sites as part of an invertebrate sample method comparison Scientific Investigations Report (SIR) titled “Comparability among Four Invertebrate Sampling Methods and the Recalibrated Multimetric Index Values, Fountain Creek Basin, Colorado, 2010 – 2012”, and (2) all the MMI values from macroinvertebrate data collected at 34 sites from 2005 to 2016. This USGS data release contains all the data and files to reproduce results of the SIR. Data preparation of these data files is fully described in the SIR.

Macroinvertebrate communities in Shenandoah Valley streams, 2021
공공데이터포털
From 20 May - 8 June 2021, a Virginia Tech team of 2-3 sampled the macroinvertebrate community in 30 Shenandoah Valley streams (Virginia and West Virginia, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, fish community, and fish health at the same 30 streams. The macroinvertebrate community team also characterized the habitat units sampled for macroinvertebrates. At each stream, we sampled macroinvertebrates in two ways:1) in each stream we took 5 slack samples in riffles according to NAWQA protocol, and 2) we selected the most available and productive habitat where we used the Slack sampler to collect 5 additional samples in wood debris accumulations, undercut banks or leaf packs. Mesh size was 250 micrometer and samples were all taken for a known area. Other measurements included water temperature, electrical conductivity, and clarity, and percent of the reach comprising pool, riffle, and run habitats.
Macroinvertebrate communities in Delmarva Peninsula streams, 2022
공공데이터포털
From 2 April - 29 April 2022, a Virginia Tech team of 2-3 sampled the macroinvertebrate community in 30 Coastal Plain streams (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, fish community, and fish health at the same 30 streams. Macroinvertebrates were sampled using a 250 micrometer mesh slack sampler on a known area. At each stream, samples were collected in two ways. 1) Five slack samples were taken in riffles according to the USGS National Water-Quality Assessment protocol, and 2) Five additional slack samples were collected in the most productive available habitat types such as woody debris, undercut banks or leaf packs. Additionally, water quality and habitat measurements were collected including water temperature, electrical conductivity, and clarity, and percent of the reach comprising pool, riffle, and run habitats.

Biological, watershed land use & physiochemical data from streams sampled in the Georgia Coastal Plain
공공데이터포털
Benthic macroinvertebrates sampled from 76 small streams in the Georgia Coastal Plain. Additional data includes in-situ physiochemcial water quality data, physical stream habitat data and land use data in the watershed draining to the sample stream reach, as well as in the immediate riparian zone adjacent to all stream reaches upstream of the sample reach. These data were used to develop a biological condition index for evaluating stream restoration projects in this region. Citation information for this dataset can be found in the EDG's Metadata Reference Information section and Data.gov's References section.

Macroinvertebrate communities in PA and MD Piedmont mixed agricultural streams, 2023
공공데이터포털
From 12 May – 18 May 2023, a Virginia Tech team of 2-3 sampled the macroinvertebrate community in 30 Upper Northern Piedmont streams (Maryland and Pennsylvania, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, fish community, and fish health at the same 30 streams. Macroinvertebrates were sampled using a 500-micrometer mesh d-frame net on a known area (0.25 m2). Five d-frame net samples were collected in the most productive available habitat types for that 100-meter stream reach, such as woody debris, undercut banks or leaf packs. Macroinvertebrate data are related to the Chesapeake Bay Index of Biotic Integrity metrics and scores calculated for the Upper North Piedmont region. These macroinvertebrate community data were collected as part of a larger interdisciplinary Chesapeake Stream Team field campaign
Physical and Biological Monitoring Data Collected from Restored Wetland Units at Shiawassee National Refuge, Saginaw, MI, US (2020)
공공데이터포털
Data represent physical (water quality) and biological (fish, macroinvertebrate, and vegetation community) collections as indicators for Pool 1A and the Maankiki Marsh North and South units at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge in Saginaw, MI, USA. The Maankiki North and South units were recently reconnected to the Shiawassee River in 2018, whereas Pool 1A represents a historically reconnected wetland. All data were collected in 2020.
