The State Road Casement has been produced by the Department of State Growth to assist local government in applying the Utilities Zone to State roads as part of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme. This layer is a guidance map only and may be subject to future minor modifications to refine the data. The Utilities Zone in draft Local Provisions Schedules is to be applied in accordance with the Guideline No. 1 – Local Provisions Schedule (LPS): zone and code application: http://www.planning.tas.gov.au/news/news_items/guidance_for_drafting_lps. The Utilities Zone will be subject to public exhibition, public hearings and assessment by the Tasmanian Planning Commission prior to finalisation.

The State-owned road network consists of approximately 3500km of road. It is a subset of the broader road network that focuses on connectivity and movement functions at State and regional levels. The State network primarily consist of roads that provide connectivity between cities, major towns, rural catchments and key port and air transport hubs. It is intended to provide a strategic classification for the management and planning of the State's transport system.

The carriageway dataset is the authoritative spatial dataset used in the administration and management of state road assets by the Department of State Growth. It records the location of proclaimed state roads under the Roads and Jetties Act & Highways Act. This dataset is captured and stored using the Tasmanian Road Information Positioning System (TRIPS) consisting of a Linear Referencing System (LRS) and a geographical coordinate system.

The Tasmanian Reserve Estate dataset is a digital map of the Reserve System for Tasmania. It represents land reserved to be managed for biodiversity conservation under Tasmania's Regional Forest Agreement (RFA) and other instruments. LIST Authority Land is a subset of the LIST Cadastral Parcels layer. It portrays parcels of land owned, vested or managed by a Commonwealth, State or Local Government Authority or Government Business Enterprise. Categories include Housing Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania, Councils, Education, Forestry Tasmania, TAS Water, Defense etc. Authority Land attributes are the same as for LIST Cadastral parcels and include the authority name, title reference and property identifier (PID).

LIST Transport Segment data is a subset of the LIST Transport Segment data and comprises transport routes with highway status. The subset has been created to provide clarity on ownership of roads (Authority). Metadata for each line is linked to the Transport Segment layer through the Feature Metadata Pointer (FMP) attribute.
