Water temperature, salinity, currents, and others collected by CTD and ADCP from MV Steller and MV Pelican in LeConte Bay, Alaska from 2016-08-09 to 2018-09-18 (NCEI Accession 0189574)
This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, currents, and other parameters taken during four field campaigns that occurred in LeConte Bay (near LeConte Glacier) in southeast Alaska in August 2016, May 2017, July 2017, September 2017, and September 2018. Supported by the National Science Foundation Polar Programs through projects LeConte Glacier and LeConte Bay Ice-Ocean Interactions. During each cruise we collected water column temperature, salinity, and depth data using a CTD. In addition, we collected water velocity data from two pole-mounted ADCP systems situated off the side of the vessel, a 600 kHz to capture upper layer velocities in more detail and a 150 kHz ADCP to reach the bottom and characterize the entire water column flow. Data were taken from MV Steller (21m fishing vessel) and MV Pelican (7.6m landing craft). In addition, we collected multibeam sonar data of the seafloor and glacier ice front during both campaigns. We had a RESON multibeam sensor mounted on a pole, with a 15 degree wedge inserted to enable collection of near vertical ice faces. This accession does not include these bathymetry data. These data support the Antarctic Pack Ice Seals (APIS) project, funded by the US National Science Foundation grant #OPP9816086. Data were acquired using a SeaBird 911plus CTD and processed by the data originator with SeaBird data processing software. File format information, contact information for the Principal Investigators, and other important metadata are available in the file data/1-data/Readme.
Water temperature, salinity, and velocity taken by CTD and ADCP from a small boat and remote-controlled surface vehicle from 2012-07-16 to 2012-07-25 in Sarqardleq Fjord, Greenland (NCEI Accession 0210572)
공공데이터포털
This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, and velocity taken by CTD and ADCP during 2012-07-16 to 2012-07-25 in Sarqardleq Fjord, Greenland. These data address the interaction of the ocean with tidewater glaciers around the margins of the Greenland Ice Sheet is thought to be a key control on ice sheet stability. Thus, understanding the processes which drive melting of the calving fronts of tidewater glaciers by the ocean is fundamental to projections of future global mean sea level rise. Our understanding is however currently limited, partly due to the scarcity of oceanographic data from close to the calving fronts of tidewater glaciers. The primary goal of these measurements was to quantify the ocean conditions adjacent to a west Greenland tidewater glacier. In particular, knowledge of the water temperature and water velocity is highly valuable as these are understood to be the two primary variables determining the rate at which the ocean melts the calving front of the glacier. These temperature, salinity, and velocity data were collected near a tidewater glacier in Sarqardleq Fjord, West Greenland during July 2012. Data are in NetCDF.

These time-series data sets consist of Current Profiler data and biophysical data from moored instruments at 2 locations in Southeast Alaska in 2005 and 2006. A Cross Sound (CS-11) mooring was deployed August through November 2005 at 58.17 N, 136.57 W. In 2006 moorings were deployed in August at both Cross Sound (CS-11, 58.17 N, 136.57 W) and Chatham Strait (CH-1, 56.50 N, 134.39 W), and recovered in March of 2007. Data from these moored instruments include current speed and direction, calculated current components U and V, temperature, conductivity, salinity, pressure, water depth and calculated Sigma-T values. Instrumentation included Teledyne-RDI Long-Ranger 75khz ADCP (LRCP) and SeaBird SBE-37 (Microcat). Instruments were deployed and recovered from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game ship R/V Medeia.
