These feature classes reside within the SOCECON Feature Data Set of the Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac 2019 ESI geodatabase. They contain vector polygons, lines and points representing navigation/marine area resource data for the Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac study area. The study area includes the Straits of Mackinac, nearby portions of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and adjacent lands and waters in northern Michigan. These data sets contain information about the following resources: POLYLINES - ferry routes; POINTS - boat ramps, ferries, lock and dams, marinas, and ports; POLYGONS - access sites and anchorages. Object specific Type and Source information are stored in the related data tables, SOC_DAT and SOURCES (described below). These are stand-alone tables within the Geodatabase, designed to be used in conjunction with these spatial data layers. This data set is a portion of the ESI data for Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac study area. The feature classes HYDROL and HYDROP contain vector lines and polygons representing the coastal shoreline and hydrography used in the creation of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) for Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac study area. The HYDROP (hydrography polygons) layer delineates the shoreline, and identifies areas as either Land or Water. The HYDROL (hydrography lines) layer includes features that are not captured in the HYDROP data layer, such as breakwaters, fenders, groins, jetties, and piers. This feature class resides within the SOCECON Feature Data Set of the Southwest Florida 2016 ESI geodatabase. It contains vector polygons representing Natural Hazard human-use resource data for marine and estuarine waters of Southwest Florida and adjacent lands and waters. The vector polygons represent predicted flood inundation in the event of a Category 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 storm. For each storm category, the level of flooding is binned into anticipated depth of flood waters: <= 3 feet, > 3 feet, > 6, and > 9 feet. These are modeled data, based on the National Hurricane Centerâs Sea, Lake and Overland Surges from Hurricanes (SLOSH) model (https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/surge/slosh.php). Raster model data, prepared in 2015, was converted to vector polygons for the purpose of the ESI. These data should be used for planning purposes only. The ArcGIS feature class (NATURAL HAZARD POLYS) has 2 associated attribute tables, considered as Entities or "Child Items" in this metadata record. Location-specific Type and Source information are stored in these related data tables, SOC_DAT and SOURCES (described below), which are stand-alone tables within the Geodatabase.
