The Intermodal Freight Facilities dataset is comprised of various layers, showing transfer/transloading locations of various commodities which don't change state. Layers included are for the TOFC/COFC commodity, Air to Truck freight transfer locations, Marine/Port Roll-On/Roll-Off commodity transfer locations, and a layer for commodities transferred via pipelines to other modes. These layers were listed as one dataset until 2019 when the layers each became their own individual dataset. The descriptions are listed below: TOFC/COFC: When available, primary sources for this dataset were the websites of the ports, as well as port operators. Every facility is associated with a port and assumed to be served by both marine and truck, and those facilities which support rail operations, the reporting code for the operating rail company is also identified. The Intermodal Freight Facilities - Rail TOFC/COFC dataset was compiled on December 10, 2018 and was updated on July 22, 2022 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). When available, the primary sources for this dataset were the websites of the railroads. Every facility is assumed to be served by both rail and truck, and those facilities which support port operations, the name of the port is also identified. The dataset also includes the services provided at each facility (TOFC only, COFC only, or both TOFC and COFC), and the Station Point Location Code (SPLC) associated with the rail facility. This dataset is one of several layers in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) Intermodal Freight Facility Database.

The Intermodal Passenger Facilities - Amtrak Stations dataset was compiled on September 25, 2024 and was completed on October 27, 2024 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). Polygon layer depicting Amtrak stations in the United States. Only stations that are served by train service and have a building with a waiting room are represented.

The Freight Analysis Framework (FAF5) - Network Nodes dataset was created from 2017 base year data and was published on April 11, 2022 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The FAF (Version 5) Network Nodes contains 348,498 node features. All node features are topologically connected to permit network pathbuilding and vehicle assignment using a variety of assignment algorithms. The FAF Node and the FAF Link datasets can be used together to create a network. The link features in the FAF Network dataset include all roads represented in prior FAF networks, and all roads in the National Highway System (NHS) and the National Highway Freight Network (NHFN) that are currently open to traffic. Other included links provide connections between intersecting routes, and to select intermodal facilities and all U.S. counties. The network consists of over 588,000 miles of equivalent road mileage. The dataset covers the 48 contiguous States plus the District of Columbia, Alaska, and Hawaii.

The Intermodal Passenger Connectivity Database (IPCD) dataset was compiled on August 10, 2021 and was updated October 19, 2022 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The IPCD is a nationwide database of passenger transportation terminals, with data on the availability of connections among the various scheduled public transportation modes at each facility. IPCD is no longer being updated, the latest information is from 2022. The IPCD data covers the following types of passenger transportation terminals/stops: 1. Scheduled airline service airports. 2. Intercity bus stations (includes stations served by regular scheduled intercity bus service such as Greyhound, Trailways, code sharing buses such as Amtrak Thruway feeder buses, supplemental buses that provide additional frequencies along rail routes, and airport bus services from locations that are outside of the airport metropolitan area). 3. Intercity and transit ferry terminals. 4. Light-rail transit stations. 5. Heavy-rail transit stations. 6. Passenger-rail stations on the national rail network served by intercity rail and/or commuter rail services. 7. Bikeshare stations belonging to bikeshare systems that are open to the general public, IT-automated, and station based (contain hubs to which users can grab and return a bike). The bikeshare stations only include those from the latest IPCD data collection in 2022. Please consult the latest bikeshare layer (https://doi.org/10.21949/1522020) for the most current information. The IPCD includes data elements describing the location of the above types of terminals as well as the availability of intercity, commuter, and transit rail; scheduled air service; intercity and transit bus; intercity and transit ferry services; and bikeshare availability. Transit bus service locations are not specifically included in the database. However, the status of transit bus as a connecting mode is included for each bikeshare facility in the database. The Freight Analysis Framework (FAF5) - Regions dataset was created from 2017 base year data and was published on April 11, 2022 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The 2017 Commodity Flow Survey (CFS) contains 132 zones for U.S. domestic regions, which are directly carried over to the geography definitions for the FAF (Version 5) Regions. These geographic areas can be classified as one of the following three types: (1) Metropolitan Area (MA): The state part of a selected metropolitan statistical area (MSA) or combined statistical area (CSA). (2) The Remainder of State (ROS): The portion of a state containing the counties that are not included in the MA type CFS Areas defined above. (3) Whole State: An entire state where no MA type CFS Areas are defined within the state.

The Freight Analysis Framework (FAF5) - Highway Network Assignments was created from 2017 base year and 30 year forecast data and was published on April 11, 2022 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). This data package includes tabular files with results from FAF5 2017, 2022, and 2050 baseline assignments to represent freight flows by three separate truck only flows type (Total Truck, Single Unit, and Combination Unit) and three freight flow markets (domestic, import and export). 2017 and 2022 model years contain 6 data tables and 2050 model year contains 11 data tables, representing the truck only flows. Each data table can be linked to the FAF5 network geography to display truck flows by link.
