This state-only discussion, sponsored by the Child Welfare Technical Working Group (CWTWG) allowed child welfare information system project managers to air issues, questions, and concerns, and to develop a list of queries and comments for federal response at the end of the meeting. The topics in this open and interactive session included: Federal staff did not participate in the first half of the call, so state staff could confidentially raise topics and develop a shared list of comments and questions about CCWIS and other topics of their choice. Questions and comments were displayed on a virtual whiteboard to capture the collective voice of the child welfare information system project managers. The Children's Bureau, Division of State Systems (DSS) hosted a state panel discussion about recording intake calls. The panel, consisting of representatives from Colorado, Iowa, and New Jersey, responded to questions about their reasons for recording intake calls, how their child welfare service providers use the recordings, and about their lessons learned. This state panel discussion, featuring Alabama, District of Columbia, and Wisconsin, discussed sharing child welfare and education data to improve practice and outcomes. Panelists shared the history of their exchanges along with future visions for their exchanges.
